Nuit Blanche KYOTO, held every autumn by Kyoto City and the Kansai Institute of Japanese Studies and Franco-Japanese Studies, is a contemporary art festival inspired by Nuit Blanche (the White Nights Festival), which originated in Kyoto City's sister city, Paris. This year again, we will be delivering a rich variety of programs including visual art, performances, and exhibitions by Japanese and French artists at various locations in Kyoto.

The theme for 2023 is "Power".Power arises in all situations, such as climate change, geopolitical conflicts, and gender issues.Sometimes it drives us, sometimes it terrifies us, sometimes it inspires us.Let's feel the power that artists sensitively perceive, make us aware of, and call out to us.

This year, marking the 13th year of the program, we also held our first open call for applications. Please enjoy the six works by Japanese and French artists selected after a screening process.
